I have worked in healthcare for more than 20 years. I have worked in inpatient acute care medical telemetry, outpatient family practice and in hospice as a nurse. After working as a nurse for some time, I transitioned into patient safety, quality, risk and legal so that I could have a different impact on patient care. I have also taught nursing and healthcare students for 15 years.
I bet you have wondered about a way you can have a different but positive impact on patients.
I loved taking care of my patients but I was also feeling discouraged by the real world unrealistic expectations that are put on clinicians in the healthcare industry.
I felt things could be better for our patients and for ourselves as clinicians. I wanted to be part of the solution, so I decided to go to law school and prepared for a career in patient safety and healthcare law.
My focus has been on in-house patient safety and regulatory issues impacting clinicians and patients. Supporting clinicians directly, to help them understand their ethical and legal obligations as healthcare providers and to help them be more satisfied in their roles.
Satisfied clinicians make for better patient outcomes, right?
If you are considering a career in patient safety or risk management or if you are in a new healthcare leadership role and need to better understand patient safety and how to review adverse events…
I can teach you all the ins and outs to be a patient safety and risk management leader.
